Introduction
Labour Department Uttarakhand is the regulatory organization to regulate the working conditions of workers in the organized sector as per the various Central and State Acts like The Minimum Wages Act 1948, The Payment Of Wages Act 1936, The Payment Of Gratuity Act 1972, The Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act 1970, The Factories Act 1948, The Maternity Benefit Act 1961, The Industrial Employment(Standing Orders) Act 1946, The Indian Boilers Act 1923, The Payment of Bonus Act 1965, The Trade Union Act 1926, The Weekly Holiday Act 1942, The Working Journalist & Other Newspaper Employees(Conditions of Service) And Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1955, The Employees Compensation Act 1923, The Equal Renumeration Act 1976, The Inter-State Migrant Workmen(Regulation of Employment And Conditions of Service) Act 1979, U.P Industrial Disputes Act 1947(Adopted by the state), Shop and Other Establishments Act 2017 etc.
Apart from the above the state also ensures various benefits to the workers in the unorganized sector as per the provisions of The Building And Other Constructions Workers(Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service) Act 1996 and The Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008.
The Department is also committed to eradicate the employment of child and bonded labour in any form. The provisions of The Child and Adolescent Act 1986 (As amended in 2016), The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act 1976 and The Central Sector Scheme for Rehabilitation of Bonded Labour-2021 are enforced regularly for this purpose.
